Before starting examine your bow for any defects. If you see anything or you are not sure DO NOT STRING YOUR BOW. Call us and we will advise you what the action to take.

I always recommend using a tassel or microfibre cloth to wipe over the bow before and after stringing to check for snags

If it is cold, I recommend to string the bow and let it stand, then working it slowly towards a full draw

I ALWAYS WORK THE BOW EVERY TIME I STRING IT BEFORE SHOOTING OR FULLY DRAWING this is a must do for every longbow

Warm up your bow after bracing by giving it at least 6 pulls at 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full draw.

A new bow needs to learn to bend and be shot: Please take care when doing this.

NEVER loose any bow without an arrow nocked. It can result in damage or a severe break!

Longbows DO NOT want to be held at full draw longer than 2 or 3 seconds.

A longbow should NEVER be drawn past the maximum length that is marked on the bow: this could result in stress damage or a broken bow.

If you are shooting in wet conditions make sure you have a cloth to dry your bow between ends, if you don’t, you risk damaging the finish on your bow. When you finished shooting dry the bow thoroughly.

do not put it near any heat source to dry it

Bows should be stored with the limbs unsupported and not near any heat source or windows or cold areas

Never shoot in freezing conditions. This can cause serious damage or breakage.

When you have finished shooting, un-brace your bow and check it for defects with a cloth or tassel
